SolariA waterproof our best radial cut shade sail
Solaria is our best waterproof shade sail - made in Italy with a radial cut made from Purishade®, an innovative and environmentally friendly sail fabric.
Optimal protection against UV rays (UPF50 +), rain, sun, and wind up to 62 km / h.
The radial cut, invented in 1983 by sail designer Tom Schnackenberg, introduced a revolution in the manufacture of sails. Radially cut sails are many times more resistant to wind and rain and optimally bring the tension to the centre of the sail.
Thanks to modern technologies, we can create extremely precise cuts and seams and thus create a shade sail that can be stretched really tight and thus optimizes water drainage and wind resistance.
A special anti-drop thread and an automatic seam sealing system ensure complete waterproofing.
It is equipped with multilayer reinforcements and oversized stainless-steel plates with adjustable reinforcement straps.
Solaria is made to measure (go to the configurator) but is also available in 15 standard sizes.
Purishade® polypropylene fabric 270 g/m², 500 mm, water column, UV 50+, breathable (37% cooling factor), colour fastness 7/8 ISO 105B02, environmentally friendly (HIGG value 37), abrasion-resistant and tear-resistant (10,000 cycles, certified according to the ASTM D4966 test).
- Radial cut, enables optimal distribution of the tension, structural rigidity, resistance over time, better wind resistance (62 km h)
- Made in Italy, digital cutting and stitching, drop-sealed seams for perfect water resistance
- Sail corners with multilayer reinforcements and 316 stainless steel plates of nautical quality with adjustable reinforcement straps
- Over 15 sizes or custom made (click here for the configurator)

Solaria WP (waterproof) represents the maximum desirable from a sun sail. It is made with a highly technical fabric, Purishade®, which ensures great color persistence, certified by our tests with a grade 7 in ISO 105B02 scale. This fabric was developed by our team not only to have a great duration of coloring but to meet different needs of outdoor fabrics.
It is resistant to 50mm of water column and thus offers maximum waterproofness, also thanks to the sealed seams it is equipped with. It is also resistant to both abrasion (10,000 cycles certified by the ASTM D4966 test) and linear traction.
Finally, thanks to its breathability, it ensures micro-circulation of air that will help you feel great freshness in the summer heat. If you are further curious about this fabric, let's talk about it in depth on this sheet.
The radial cut invented in 1983 by sails designer Tom Schnackenberg introduced a revolution in terms of fiber orientation and thus cutting and sewing. It is certainly a much more laborious cut that involves working through many loops: however, it will be this richness that will allow correct and uniform distribution of tension (through small 'vectors' of force present on each single ferzo).
We will thus have sails more resistant to the wind, which uniform the tension load, especially in the central part of the sail, eliminating by 93% the risk of formation of central puddles (Maanta test , with sails inclined by at least 25% and properly stretched with 50/60 kg applied for each vertex). We decided to introduce the radial cut also in fixed sails as we have seen huge differences in performance between this orientation and the normal straight (or cross-cut) packaging. If you want to know more about the radial cut, we advise you to consult this specific in-depth analysis!
For correct tensioning we recommend installing anchors equipped with Muscle x3 force multiplying pulleys as well as our shade sail poles or wall anchoring kits.
The combination of radial cut, Purishade® technical fabric, sealed seams and other construction technologies gives life to Solaria WP, the best waterproof shade sail on the market.
